This intricate pastel drawing is a feminist (if she can be any more so!) take on Joan of Arc. She is holding out in disdain the rope that bound her. Sold with an antique shabby chic frame with glass, please contact me if you want to buy unframed (57cmH x41cmW) (£190).
The method I use for these drawings is an automatic subconscious process. I make marks on the paper and then let the images present themselves to me – monsters, figures, creatures of fire, in this case, all pacified by the faith of a woman with supreme confidence in her own righteousness.
